AdvaMed Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement In Xining, China

Recently, the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) signed astrategic cooperation framework agreement between AdvaMed and the People’s Government of Xining Municipality in Qinghai Province, China.

The agreement is designed to encourage and promote health care and scientific research, cooperation and exchanges between international medical technology companies – including AdvaMed member companies – and Xining, an important city rapidly developing into a health care R&D hub in the northwestern region of China.

“While cooperation under this framework agreement is based in Qinghai, we look forward to cooperating with the region more broadly, and are committed to promoting the clinical application of advanced medical technology in China,” said Ralph Ives, AdvaMed executive vice president, global strategy and analysis. “This agreement represents a win-win for AdvaMed members and Chinese patients, as we continue to strengthen ties to help ensure patient access to advanced medical devices, diagnostics and therapies that will save more lives and improve their quality of life.”

On hand for the signing were more than 100 China government officials, industry leaders and other health care stakeholders. Attendees included the governor of Qinghai; other senior government officials from Qinghai and Xining, including the health and medical insurance bureaus; the heads of several Qinghai hospitals; senior officials from the China FDA and the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC); as well as Ives and AdvaMedmember company representatives.

“This event reflects AdvaMed’s expanding and strengthening commitment and investment in China,” said Ives. “China is one of the world’s fastest growing markets for medical technology, and many of our members have made significant investments there, establishing R&D centers and manufacturing bases that contribute to China’s growth. We look forward to continuing to work with the Chinese government and other stakeholders to help make patients’ lives better through medical technology.”
