Micro Molding Medical Grade Materials
ProMed offers micro molding services for both long-term and short-term implantable medical device components, making parts as small as .002g and shot sizes up to 3g. They have experience with a variety of medical-grade plastic materials (thermoplastics) such as EVA, PSU, PLA, PLGA, PEEK, Filled PEEK, and Ultem. They also work with Polycarbonate, ABS, and Pebax.
ProMed’s presses range from 5 to 35 tons, and their processing equipment has been specifically designed for micro molding by maximizing parts-per-pound, minimizing waste, and implementing extreme shot control. What makes them especially well-suited to handle the micro molding of bio-absorbable or thermoplastic materials for medical devices is that the processing environment can be nitrogen purged when necessary for safety and regulation protocols.
