Former FDA Director Susan Alpert Joins C.R. Bard
Susan Alpert, the former director of the Office of Device Evaluation in FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health, is leaving the FDA to join medical device manufacturer C. R. Bard Inc. (Murray Hill, NJ).Edited by Ursula Jones
As vice president of regulatory sciences, Alpert will manage Bard's quality, regulatory, medical, clinical, and environmental affairs functions.
Alpert had left her post at CDRH last year to serve as director for food safety at FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (see earlier story). She joined the FDA in 1987 as supervisory medical officer in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
"As a physician with a wealth of leadership experience at the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Alpert brings a unique perspective and familiarity of the medical technology industry to this vital position," said Bard president and CEO William H. Longfield.
