Filtertek's USP Class VI certified 3-way check valve was developed for general medical use to administer liquids into the patient via an infusion pump or a syringe. Typical applications include parental nutrition, fluid dispensing, and cardiology for drawing up cold fluid in a high-pressure syringe for subsequent injection via a thermodulition catheter.

Valve operation is carried out by connecting a syringe to the female luer lock side of the assembly. Fluid can then be aspirated from a container, which is connected on the cap side, into the syringe. As the fluid is flowing from the container into the syringe, the patient side (male luer lock connection) is closed. After filling the syringe the fluid is then transferred into the patient by injecting the plunger on the syringe. As this is happening the tube side will be totally closed.
These 2 actions of aspiration and injection can be carried out without removing the syringe from the female luer lock connection.

The valve can be sterilized via ETO and Gamma irradiation and is assembled and tested in a class 100,000 cleanroom area, as per ISO 9001. For a complete Filtertek medical product catalog call 800-248-2461.
