Company History

In 1989, Advanced Surface Technology, Inc. was established as an organization dedicated to the research and development of biomaterial surface modification. In the effort that led to many break-through applications in coatings and surface treatment for biomaterials, our scientists and engineers also developed expertise in related technologies. One of such technologies was plasma processing, the other one was contact angle measurement, a common method used to test the effectiveness on the surface after the treatment.

In 1995, AST Products, Inc. was spun of for developing and marketing video contact angle analysis systems. Being one of the first companies in its field to utilize computer and video image for quick and accurate surface analysis, AST Products, Inc. soon became a leader of contact angle instruments in semiconductor, flat panel display, chemical, adhesive, material research and many other market segments.
