Analog-To-Digital Converter
It achieves superior performance by combining the high data rate of traditional SAR converters with the high resolution of delta-sigma converters.
An analog-to-digital converter, such as this, links analog and digital domains by converting a ``real world'' signal (analog) into digital data for use with microprocessors.
Technical Detail
Functionally, the ADS1252 consists of a fourth-order delta-sigma modulator, a digital filter, control logic, and a serial interface for easy connection to microcontrollers and digital signal processors. The delta-sigma architecture is used for wide dynamic range and to guarantee 24 bits of no missing code performance.
The converter operates from a nominal 5V supply and is guaranteed to consume less than 50mW of power. The device's flexible, two-wire synchronous serial interface offers low-cost isolation. Other key specifications include 0.0015% linearity error and 2.8ppm of rms noise (effective resolution of 18 bits up to 40kHz).
