PhotoLink antimicrobial coatings deliver a comprehensive solution to infection resistance.
PhotoLink antimicrobial coatings deliver a comprehensive solution to infection resistance. Depending on the particular needs of the device, the coatings can provide microbial anti-adherence, antimicrobial drug delivery, antimicrobial agent immobilization or any combination of these features to achieve optimized device performance.
Antimicrobial Coating Options
- Microbial Anti-adherence: A simple method involving the application of a PhotoLink hydrophilic coating to the surface of the device in order to reduce the device's affinity for bacteria.
- Antimicrobial Drug Delivery: For applications requiring a higher level of antimicrobial activity, antimicrobial drug delivery coatings provide a slow and measured release of antimicrobial agents from a polymer matrix over time.
- Antimicrobial Agent Immobilization: This approach offers a potentially long-term approach to drug delivery by immobilizing an antimicrobial agent onto a device's surface. This antimicrobial activity is retained throughout the coating process and is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
