Ballard Medical Products Releases Second Quarter Earnings

Ballard Medical Products (Draper, UT) announced its sales and earnings for the quarter and six months ended March 31.

Sales for the quarter were $35,110,000, compared to $36,135,728 for the second quarter of fiscal year 1998. Sales for the six months were $74,426,000, compared to $72,817,617 for the same period in 1998.

The company's net income for the second quarter ended March 31 was $5,756,000 (19 cents per share), compared to $5,543,174 (18 cents per share) for the second quarter of fiscal year 1998. Net income for the six months ended March 31 was $13,419,000 (43 cents per share), compared to $14,054,179 (46 cents per share) for fiscal year 1998.

According to the company, the earnings and income were affected by the delay of a proposed merger with Kimberly-Clark. The company also recalled cardiac stimulation electrodes in the first quarter.
