Bucyrus selects SolidWorks 3D CAD software to drive design of heavy earth-moving equipment

<%=company1%> today announced that Bucyrus International Incorporated has chosen SolidWorks as its three-dimensional, computer-aided design (CAD) solution. Bucyrus, which designs and manufactures the world's largest excavator and other heavy surface mining equipment, uses SolidWorks software to power its new product designs.

Bucyrus recently developed one of its three main product lines, electric mining shovels, with SolidWorks software. Each shovel has more than 50,000 components and weighs up to 4 million pounds, with dipper capacities up to 90 cubic yards. Other products developed by Bucyrus include the 2570-WS, an excavator that weighs 13 million pounds and has a bucket capacity of 180 cubic yards. Bucyrus, with more than 1,500 employees worldwide, supplies equipment to virtually every large-scale surface mining company around the globe. SolidWorks is a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use 3D CAD software for the mainstream market.
