CAE Ultrasonics
From small beginnings in the early 1950's as Murdock Laboratories, we have pioneered the development of practical applications for ultrasonic technology. In 1958, the Blackstone Corporation purchased Murdock Laboratories, and attempted to use ultrasonic technology in its high quality laundry equipment. Although ultrasonic technology did not revolutionize the laundry industry, ultrasonic techniques were refined for use in industrial, medical and other applications. Blackstone's credits include the development and patenting of the first rugged, highly efficient piezoelectric transducers; ultrasonic devices for use in urology and cardiology; the first large scale ultrasonic solder pot; and auto-tuned, solid state ultrasonic generators.
In 1989, Blackstone Ultrasonics was purchased by one of its executives, and the tradition of quality and innovation continued. Acquired in 1997 by CAE Inc. of Toronto, Ontario and CAE Ransohoff of Cincinnati, Ohio, Blackstone Ultrasonics was renamed CAE Blackstone.
Early in 1998, CAE Blackstone acquired Ney Ultrasonics (renamed CAE Ney), a leading precision cleaning equipment manufacturer which serves the semiconductor, disk drive and optical markets. Ney Ultrasonics literally invented digital ultrasonic wave form generators, and holds multiple patents in the field. Now in their second and third generations, these components and systems offer the unprecedented uniformity, efficiency and control that only our advanced technology can provide.
When CAE Cleaning Technologies, Inc. was formed in March, 1998, CAE Blackstone and CAE Ney joined the group, helping to make it the 2nd largest supplier of custom-engineered cleaning equipment in the world, and the largest in the United States.
In March of 1999 CAE Blackstone and CAE Ney merged to form CAE Ultrasonics. Over the last decade, our company has grown by a factor of seven. We make more ultrasonic equipment in the United States than any other supplier. Today, our research, design and manufacturing are still based at our facility in Jamestown, New York where our commitment to manufacturing quality cleaning equipment is rooted in a rich, colorful, and inventive history.
