Concert Medical Launches BSmart - The First Objective Nerve Block Injection Pressure Monitor
Norwell, MA - Concert Medical has announced the launch of BSmart, the first objective nerve block injection pressure monitor for use in regional anesthesia. Clinicians can now objectively monitor and document injection pressures during administration of peripheral nerve blocks, avoiding injection into poorly compliant tissues. Objective pressure monitoring helps standardize nerve block injection procedures regardless of who performs the actual injection.
Norwell, MA-based Concert Medical specializes in the design and manufacture of medical devices and components utilized in lesser invasive medical/surgical systems. With the launch of BSmart, Concert has entered the arena of regional anesthesia with an innovative, easy-to-use product. "Currently clinicians rely on a "hand feel" method, or technique, to decrease the risk of intraneural injections," said Concert Medical President Howard Donnelly. "However, many factors, such as needle type and size and type of syringe, make it difficult for clinicians to objectively determine the pressures during nerve block injection. BSmart allows clinicians to quantify the injection pressure information without sacrificing the traditional 'hand feel' technique."
