Cordis Cleared to Market New Coronary Stent
"CrossFlex LC is the first broad-use stent to satisfy the cardiologist's total spectrum of criteria for a stent that is both deliverable and conformable to the vessel wall," said Cordis Cardiology President Jesse Penn.
The CrossFlex LC delivery system, which incorporates the company's latest balloon catheter technology, is specifically engineered to minimize the risk of stent embolization through the use of the company's proprietary Nesting technology. This technology helps to secure the stent to the delivery balloon until the moment of deployment.
Penn emphasized that the delivery system also is designed to minimize the risk of edge dissection by engineering the balloons to closely match stent lengths. He explained that balloon overhang is limited to 1 mm, which is intended to reduce the potential for the phenomenon cardiologists refer to as "dog boning."
