Custom Tubing Assemblies

IDEX Health & Science partnered with a customer to optimize the assembly and servicing of a complex fluidic instrument that suffered from a scattered component layout and lacked efficient connection methods. The instrument’s large, floor-standing design made it difficult to consolidate components using manifolds, leading to frequent assembly errors and increased service interventions. Recognizing the critical need for a more intuitive and reliable setup, the customer turned to IDEX for a customized solution.
The IDEX support team began by thoroughly reviewing the fluidic schematics, identifying key issues caused by dispersed assemblies and frequent part replacements. Working closely with the customer, they proposed a redesign using custom tubing assemblies paired with color-coded fittings, including Intuitive Torque-Limiting Fittings. This design simplified identification and ensured correct connections, eliminating the need for technicians to trace tubing back to its origin repeatedly.
The result was a significantly improved assembly and service process. The intuitive layout minimized the risk of errors, accelerated assembly time, and reduced the likelihood of incorrect connections. IDEX ultimately delivered over one hundred unique part numbers and engineering drawings, fully outfitting the instrument with tailored components that met the customer’s performance and usability needs.
This successful collaboration highlights how strategic partnerships and smart engineering can transform complex fluidic systems into efficient, serviceable platforms that boost reliability and operational efficiency.
