Rockaway, NJ - CYRO Industries has received the 2005 Technology Leadership Award in the field of plastics for medical devices from growth consulting firm Frost & Sullivan. This Award is bestowed upon a company that makes a significant contribution to the industry by pioneering the development and market launch of innovative technologies. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Degussa, CYRO continually enhances its line of comprehensive medical grade acrylics to meet the ever changing demands on medical devices. With solutions ranging from inherently antistatic polymers to lipid and chemical resistant grades, CYRO's acrylic polymers can be utilized in a variety of medical-oriented applications including medical devices, medical packaging and medical diagnostics.

"With this award we recognize CYRO Industries' leadership in developing groundbreaking technology in advanced medical grade acrylic compounds and alloys," notes Dr. Donald Rosato, Senior Research Analyst, Frost & Sullivan. "The company's R&D team is truly on the forefront of medical technology and continues to answer industry challenges with innovative solutions."

One example is CYRO's Vu-Stat acrylic multipolymer compounds with inherent static dissipative properties. This product solves the problem of static charge, which is highly detrimental to inhalation therapies, enabling next generation devices for more efficient patient care. Another example is the CYROLITE line of acrylic-based multipolymer compounds, supporting rigid, easy-to-mold products that are contact compatible with a number of treatment drugs.

CYRO's comprehensive suite of medical grade acrylics for medical devices offers properties including durability and resistance to alcohol, chemicals and lipids, and can be sterilized with gamma, e-beam, and EtO methods. CYRO also offers medical device developers acrylic polymers for transparent and opaque applications as well as with varying rigidity levels, melt flow processability, clarity and environmental stress craze resistance.

"Our customers require high quality medical polymers, and we are honored that our medical expertise was recognized with this prestigious award," says Wolfgang Kaster, General Manager, Molding & Extrusion Compounds, CYRO Industries. "CYRO will continue to be forward thinking and develop new solutions to improve medical industry practices and productivity."

To educate medical device design engineers and manufacturers, CYRO recently released an acrylic polymers reference guide. This resource features detailed charts and graphs illustrating the lipid and isopropyl alcohol resistance, heat aging and sterilization properties of CYRO's advanced acrylic polymers.
