Encoder Systems

A line of compact, general-purpose optical encoder systems for use in a variety of closed-loop motion control systems is available. The systems have sensors that feature PurePrecision Optics, which enhances the first orders of diffraction to create a pure signal via a laser light source. A variety of rotary and linear gratings are offered, along with a choice of three electronic modules, allowing interpolation out to 14 bits with 2.5 µm to <1 nm resolution. Suitable for densely integrated machines, the systems have sensors as small as 1.0 x 0.5 x 0.625 in. and rotary gratings 1 to 6 in. OD or linear gratings 0.5 in. to 0.5 m long. Available with or without an index mark and custom packaging or mounting options, systems provide broad alignment tolerances.
