Branson Ultrasonics Corp. has developed the Model FS-90 Ultrasonic Fabric Sealing System for simultaneously cutting and sewing. The equipment seals knitted, woven and nonwoven thermoplastic materials without adhesives, chemical binders, staples, needle or thread.

The stand-alone system consists of a sealing wheel drive mechanism with single or dual sealing wheels, drive motor, control box, foot switch, and a 910BC ultrasonic power supply.

Materials suitable for processing with the FS-90 include 100% synthetics, such as nylon, polyester, polypropylene, polyethylene, modified acrylics, some vinyls, urethane, films, coated paper, and synthetic blends with up to 35-50% non-synthetic fiber content.

The FS-90 fabricates rounded edges and corners without requiring the operator to pause and adjust the material, yields predictable results each time it is used, is fast, requires no heat up or cool down time for the processed material, and no time is lost due to broken threads or tools.

Typical applications for the FS-90 include protective garments, disposable hospital gowns, shoe covers, face masks, infant's nursery garments, filters, bags, curtains, vertical blinds, sails, and web splicing.
