Getwellnetwork Endorsed By The American Hospital Association To Bring Bedside Communication To Patients

Chicago, IL - AHA Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association (AHA), and GetWellNetwork, Inc., a provider of Interactive Patient Care (IPC) solutions, recently announced an exclusive endorsement of the GetWellNetwork PatientLife System. By using a touch screen monitor, or other handheld devices, patients can access valuable information about their care, communication with loved ones and caregivers, as well as entertainment opportunities. The announcement was made as part of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2007 conference.

The selection was made after an extensive review and market assessment by AHA Solutions of more than a dozen companies that offer bedside communications systems. The GetWellNetwork system was endorsed because it goes far beyond passive, on-demand resources to provide a fully integrated approach to patient care. The system can personalize the care experience of each patient, using GetWellNetwork Patient Pathways - that display on-screen messages specific to a patient's care, condition and safety as well as other important aspects of the hospital stay.

"AHA's decision to focus on Interactive Patient Care makes a profound statement on the impact that the technology is having in today's healthcare environment. GetWellNetwork is proud to be endorsed by AHA Solutions," said Michael O'Neil, Jr., founder and CEO of GetWellNetwork, Inc. "GetWellNetwork is focused on a single thing – empowering patients by placing them at the center of their own care experience. In doing so, we are committed to helping healthcare organizations improve their care delivery by directly engaging patients into the service and quality initiatives that are vital to the hospital. We are humbled and thrilled to work side-by-side with the AHA to bring IPC to its 5,000 hospital members and other healthcare organizations. This is an exciting day for GetWellNetwork."

GetWellNetwork is the leader in the new category of IPC that helps hospitals meet service and quality compliance requirements. IPC provides hospitals with tools to meet discharge and medication education, as well as patient safety and pain management requirements. Simultaneously, IPC engages patients to provide real-time feedback to their caregivers, and offers patients interactive capabilities and entertainment features available at the home – helping hospitals achieve higher consumer ratings from hospital surveys and national assessments. Through bi-directional interfaces with hospital health information technology systems, IPC automates time-consuming nursing tasks such as patient education, pain assessments and required documentation.

"After a comprehensive diligence effort, it became clear that the work GetWellNetwork is doing today, coupled with their vision for the future, sets them apart in the field. We are pleased to be working with such an innovative and dedicated group of professionals," said Anthony J. Burke, president and CEO of AHA Solutions. "The GetWellNetwork solution streamlines and automates day-to-day patient communications processes, allowing caregivers more time to focus on the important, personal aspects of patient interaction. In order to provide the highest level of treatment for patients, hospitals must focus on patient-centered care and help patients communicate with their providers – as well as keep them connected to the outside world during their stay. Interactive Patient Care solutions from GetWellNetwork are making these goals attainable for hospitals across the country."

The GetWellNetwork PatientLife System will also be a key part of a soon-to-be-launched platform by AHA Solutions addressing process improvement, patient flow, safety, the patient experience and operational performance.
