Manufactured in a class 10,000 Cleanroom, Avery Dennison's hydrocolloid absorbs bodily fluids and wound exudate, ideal for ostomy and wound care applications. The new generation hydrocolloids are highly integrated with no tackifying resins, eliminating leachables from entering the wound site. MED 5585H (0.3 mm hydrocolloid) and MED 5586H (0.5mm hydrocolloid) are combined with a polyurethane film that results in a waterproof dressing. Both MED 5585H and MED 5586H offer low peel properties, translating to gentle removal from skin, minimizing damage to healing skin. The new products do not contain animal derived components and is translucent, allowing patient to visually monitor the wound site without disturbing the dressing.

The hydrocolloid offerings include MED 2190H, MED 2191H, MED 5580H, MED 5581H, MED 5585H and MED 5586H. Test data indicate these are non-sensitizing and non-irritating per ISO 10993 guidelines. Sourcing roll-form adhesive from Avery Dennison, medical converters can produce wound dressings without investing in capital-intensive extrusion equipment. These new generation hydrocolloids offer optimal balance between peel and absorption with higher absorption rates than current products. Key features include resistance to urine, no animal derived ingredients, and highly integrated composition preventing break down in the wound.
