Image Sensors for Blood Analysis and Point-of-Care Devices

Hamamatsu’s line of image sensors includes CMOS, CCD, NMOS, and InGaAs image sensors available for integration into instruments for in vitro diagnostics (fluorescence assays), blood analyzers, and point-of-care devices.

CCD image sensors are particularly well suited for high precision measurement. Front-illuminated sensors are available from this line, as well as back-thinned types for higher quantum efficiency.

CMOS image sensors feature low power consumption, a small size, and highly integrated signal processing circuits. They incorporate a timing circuit and signal processing amplifiers integrated onto the same chip.

NMOS image sensors have excellent output linearity and can accumulate a large amount of charge, making them ideal for high-precision spectrophotometry with comparatively high light levels.

InGaAs image sensors are for use in the NIR (near infrared) region. They feature a built-in CMOS IC readout circuit to allow for easy signal processing. Their ability to operate in charge integration mode helps to increase their signal output, making them well suited for low-level light detection.
