IDC is recognized in the U.S. as having pioneered the electromechanical rod-type industrial-grade actuator (electric cylinder) market, and today we are considered the leader in this field. Pre-packaged electric cylinders are an alternative to hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders or "do-it-yourself" engineering of an electromechanical solution from various components. Electric cylinders are more controllable, more precise, more reliable, easier to install and maintain, and cleaner than fluid power alternatives. Today, IDC manufactures a wide range of linear positioning devices. In 1998, through acquisition, IDC expanded its product offering by acquiring the entire line of Precision Positioning Tables (formally DCI Positioning Tables), strengthening its position in applications that require higher precision (e.g., Semiconductor, Test & Inspection, R&D, etc.).

To drive its mechanical products, IDC offers DC, DC servo, brushless servo, or step motors, and gear motors. Our comprehensive selections of electronic motion controls are designed to complement IDC mechanical products. In 1995, IDCexperienced its most aggressive product expansion ever by introducing 20 new control and actuator products. Our drives and smart drives are the best in their class with regard to dynamic performance, features, form factor, reliability, and ease of use. IDC invites head to head comparisons with any motion control products from any manufacturer. In 1998, IDC product offering was further enhanced through the introduction of Precision Positioning Tables, the EC series (next generation of Electric Cylinders), the NV Series (OEM actuators), Linear Motors, and the worlds best Microstepping Product line (the NextStep & SmartStep).
