Installation System for Gaskets
The system is a compact design that can be integrated with automated assembly lines to minimize or eliminate labor content. It exploits the inherent advantages of the manufacturer's shielding gaskets, which are pre-form die-cut gaskets, and require no special storage conditions, mixing, dispensing or curing. The system operates using reels of die-cut gaskets that are supplied on a polyester carrier web. Gaskets are automatically peeled from the reel, exposing the gasket's integral conductive pressure sensitive adhesive. The vacuum head then accurately tamps the gasket on to the target assembly. Pressure is applied evenly on every cycle, helping to ensure consistent activation of the adhesive and high installation quality.
The basic gasket merge station is mounted against a rotating dial table, which has separate load and unload stations protected by a light curtain. This allows for a single operator to safely load fresh products, and also to unload finished assemblies while the gaskets are being applied at the merge station. At no time does the operator need to handle the gaskets except during spool replenishment.
