Intelligent Top Control Valve

The Type 8630/31 fully integrated Top Control Head unit is designed for decentralized intelligent process control. This unit can interface with the company's complete line of ½- 2 inch angle globe, ¼-turn ball, and diaphragm valves with an advanced top-down control technology. With seven different built-in flow characteristics (3 fast opening, 1 linear and 3 equal percentage) and the ability to design a flow curve, the need for various internal valve trims is eliminated. The top control head also allows set point adjust to be done at the valve or externally via standard analog input signals. A wide variety of direct sensor inputs are also available including RTD, 4-20 mA, and frequency; as well as multiple electrical interfaces including ASI, Multipin, Cable Gland, Profibus and DeviceNET. These control head units are easily linked to existing process automation systems. These features significantly reduce installation and start up times saving up to 40% of installation costs.

These unique decentralized intelligent controllers mounted on a valve and direct linked to a sensor, create and easy local control loop with enhanced communication capabilities. With accuracy better than 1%, the unit excels in applications requiring an advanced level of process automation such as chemical and pharmaceutical industry, textile, food and beverage processing, and water treatment facilities.
