The FTP-622 series high-speed journal printer is intended for OEM applications that require a hard-copy record of transactions, such as bank terminals, POS kiosks and medical and scientific instrumentation. The printer consists of a two-inch (58mm) print mechanism, a paper feed section, paper rewinder and a control board integrated into a metal frame unit. The entire device is installed into the host equipment as a single, compact module measuring 125mm (W) x 230mm (D) x 118mm (H).

The printer uses the direct thermal line-dot method and requires a 24VDC/5VDC power source. It has a maximum speed of 80mm/sec (640 dot lines/sec) and 8 dot/mm (203 dpi) resolution. The head drive current is 1.16A, which can be reduced to 0.58A by selecting 30mm/sec print speed.

Additionally, the printer has a detection function that automatically monitors the thermal head temperature, head up position and if the paper is out or is near its end. The printer's operating life is 50km of paper or 100 million pulses.
