KeyTrak Releases a Key Control System Designed Specifically for Government, Education and Medical Markets

ATLANTA (March 30) BUSINESS WIRE -March 30, 1999--

New KeyTrak GEM system not only controls key usage but also

provides detailed audit trail for managers.

KeyTrak, Inc. (www.keytrak.com), announced today that the company had developed a key control system designed specifically for the government, education and medical markets. Called KeyTrak GEM, the new Windows based system is available immediately.

"While KeyTrak is already satisfying the key control needs of a large customer base among these markets, we saw an opportunity for improvement," explained Jim Kiernicki, KeyTrak vice president. "After working with our customers, we realized we needed a specific system targeting their needs," he added.

The KeyTrak GEM consists of a PC, proprietary software, semi-conductor button technology, key tags, and electronic steel drawers that protect keys from unauthorized use. For added security, a biometric fingerprint reader and an alarm card are also available. KeyTrak GEM is the first electronic key system to use a biometric security devise for key access, according to Kiernicki.

"Another important aspect of the system is that KeyTrak GEM is networkable, a feature that many of our customers requested," explained Kiernicki. Now, at one system, a customer can monitor and obtain detailed reports on key usage for multi-systems, multi-drawers, and multi-locations, he added.

Within the KeyTrak system, keys are placed in slots within the steel drawer, designed so those keys cannot be misplaced or lost within the system. All keys are securely riveted to key tags and carry no identifying information that could be used by unauthorized individuals.

The KeyTrak system not only stores the keys but also produces a detailed audit trail that reports details such as who has a key and when the key was taken. The KeyTrak key control system, based on technology patented by the company, is the only key system approved by the Underwriters Laboratory.

A Windows based, Y2K compliant system, KeyTrak GEM is available with a mini key drawer with 96 key tags; a standard key drawer with 240 keys; and a key cabinet that houses up to 4 key drawers. Drawers can be combined and systems can be networked.

KeyTrak GEM is the latest version of key control system from KeyTrak, an 11-year-old company that specializes in electronic key systems. KeyTrak systems are used each day to control and track over two million keys worldwide. Government, medical and education agencies currently using KeyTrak systems include the U.S.A.F. Academy, Columbia University, Yale University, Virginia Tech, the House of Representatives, the Pentagon, Fort Meade, Andrews Air Force Base, Fort Rucker, COMNAV Base Pearl Harbor, Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital, Allegheny University Hospital, the University of Chicago Hospital, and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
