MammoSmart Interactive Breastcare Solution Provides Complete Patient Mammography History
Malvern, PA - Siemens Medical Solutions introduces MammoSmart, a network-connected interactive breastcare solution enabling medical imaging centers and hospitals to provide patients with their complete mammography history on a CD or DVD. When combined with Siemens MAMMOMAT NovationDR full-field digital mammography system, it offers the complete women's healthcare solution.
MammoSmart, developed by DatCard Systems, Inc., is offered through Siemens' Accessory Solutions Group and can work in conjunction with hospital registration, picture archiving communication (PACS), and mammography systems to improve workflow. Because it is easily integrated into a facility's network, it can automatically record personal information onto a CD or DVD before the patient even leaves the exam room.
Customized with personal patient data and educational information including family medical history, mammogram images, answers to frequently asked questions, videos on procedures, and Web links to support groups, MammoSmart helps alleviate patient anxiety often associated with mammography exams. Additionally, patients can view the CD or DVD's contents from the convenience of their home or take it to another physician for a second opinion.
"For women over the age of 40, the American Cancer Society recommends annual mammography screenings -- a frequent source of anxiety among patients," said Denise Lippy, vice president, Special Systems Division, Siemens Medical Solutions.
Added Lippy, "MammoSmart can help put patients at ease by placing valuable personal and educational information right at their fingertips. With MammoSmart and advanced mammography technologies such as MAMMOMAT NovationDR, Siemens provides a complete women's health solution to help clinicians detect and diagnose disease earlier, while better educating and communicating with patients."
MAMMOMAT NovationDR provides digital screening, diagnosis, and stereotactic biopsy capabilities -- all in one system. The system utilizes the MammoReportPLUS, a dedicated softcopy reporting workstation that allows ultra-fast loading times. Proven in addressing the demands of the modern mammography practice, Siemens recently announced the 100th worldwide installation of its MAMMOMAT NovationDR.
DatCard Systems, Inc. software developer and leading global supplier of DICOM distribution solutions, was established with the goal of creating a software/hardware solution that would provide a completely automated, cost-effective alternative to the inefficiencies of storing and distributing laser film. The goal was achieved with the introduction of PacsCube - the first generation DICOM distribution system. With the launch of its second product, MammoSmart, DatCard is providing and empowering patients with their mammography history and breast care information on an automatically produced and customizable DVD/CD-R. Today, DatCard Systems' family of products is one of the most implemented DICOM distribution solutions in the medical community around the world.
