Mar-Med Company Receives ISO 13485 Certification From The National Standards Authority Of Ireland
Nashua, NH - Mar-Med Company, a medical device manufacturing company based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has received ISO 13485:2003 certification from the National Standards Authority of Ireland, Inc. (NSAI). The certification is for Mar-Med Co's Tourni-Cot product, which allows for simple and easy occlusion of blood vessels during digit surgery. This achievement highlights the company's ability to manufacture a medical device that consistently meets customer and regulatory requirements.
"ISO 13485 is an international standard for medical device manufacturing quality and Mar-Med Co. should be proud of its achievement," says Chris Morrell, Vice President of NSAI. "By having ISO 13485 certification, those who use the Tourni-Cot product can have peace of mind in the quality of Mar-Med Co's manufacturing and continuous improvement processes. We at NSAI hope that this certification opens up new markets for their Tourni-Cot product."
"Mar-Med Co. is very proud of the ISO 13485 certification for Tourni-Cot," says Dr. Joseph Marogil, with Mar-Med Co. "The Tourni-Cot is a very useful device for doctors performing digit surgery. Rolling the elastic ring onto a finger or toe clears blood from the field, and once in place it applies the reliable pressure of a tourniquet. With increased visibility of affected areas, a clean field helps a doctor carry out procedures more effectively. We hope to expand the market for Tourni-Cot so that it can be utilized by more hand surgeons, podiatrists, and emergency rooms."
