maxon Gears

Source: maxon precision motors, inc.

The line of precision gears from maxon is designed for use in applications where mechanical power is required at a high torque and correspondingly reduced speed. These gears can achieve 1,000 to 3,000 operating hours in continuous operation at the maximum permissible load and recommended input speed. Service life is significantly extended if the limits are not pushed.

The maxon gears are lubricated with especially effective lubricants in the recommended temperature range.  Each maxon gear consists of one or more stages representing the pair of two cogwheels. In order to select a gearhead, the maximum transmittable power – or the product of speed and torque – is critical and depends on the number of gear stages. Once a gear is selected, the data is then conversed to the motor axis and is used to select the motor.

Available maxon motor types include:

  • GPX/GP (Planetary gearhead)
  • GS (Spur gearhead)
  • KD (Koaxdrive)
  • GPS (Spindle drives)
