Medtronic Physio-Control Coordinates e-Business Processes with MatrixOne

Medtronic Physio-Control has implemented an Internet business collaboration software from MatrixOne Inc. (Chelmsford, MA). The eMatrix solution will be used to enhance the company's ability to conduct business over the Internet and link employees throughout the enterprise with customers, design teams and other business partners.

"We believe that the eMatrix solution will enable us to gain a strategic advantage in our market by providing digital collaboration and information sharing with outside vendors, and shortening time-to-market cycles," said V. Marc Droppert, executive vice president of operations at Medtronic Physio-Control. "The eMatrix solution is also helpful in enabling us to monitor our compliance with federal medical equipment industry regulations."

Through its implementation of the eMatrix solution, Medtronic Physio-Control is able to coordinate its configuration management and product information on a global basis, reduce engineering change cycle time and simplify the transfer of product information from new product development to product support and services. MatrixOne's software is also designed to enable Medtronic Physio-Control to develop "custom wizard" applications that systematically guide users through specific processes.

"Our evaluation team was looking for a system that could accomplish our immediate goals and meet our tight schedule, but that was also adaptable to meet our long term needs," added Boris Cononetz, Jr., project manager. "The eMatrix solution offered us the flexibility we needed to quickly deploy and adapt the system to meet our schedule and unique requirements."
