MOCON Wins Tekne Award For Technology Innovation

MOCON, Inc. was recently honored with a Tekne Award which lauds the best and brightest technology innovators in Minnesota.

MOCON was presented with an award in the Technology Company category which recognizes companies that exemplify entrepreneurial spirit and promise continued economic growth through technology development in one of six subcategories.

MOCON was the winner in the Advanced Manufacturing subcategory for its instrumentation equipment which detects, measures and analyzes vapors and gasses for a wide variety of industrial applications in more than 60 countries.

"We are honored to be recipients of the prestigious Tekne award, which highlights MOCON's commitment to excellence in technology and manufacturing. This award is truly the result of a team effort and we appreciate the accolades for our contribution to Minnesota's technology-based economy," says Robert Demorest, president and chief executive officer, MOCON.

For the past seven years, the Tekne Awards, presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) and Minnesota Technology, Inc. (MTI), in partnership with LifeScience Alley, have recognized companies and individuals who have shown superior leadership, development, commercialization and management of technology in Minnesota.

"Each year, it becomes increasingly difficult to select recipients from such an immensely talented group of finalists," said Kate Rubin, president, MHTA. "This year's recipients have truly proven their leadership and dedication to technological development, which ultimately improves the quality of life for Minnesotans and helps secure Minnesota's place as a global player in technology-based markets."

Award judges selected one recipient from a pool of three finalists in each of the 17 categories, representing many facets of technological innovation in Minnesota. Award categories recognize leaders and technology businesses that are emerging (with annual revenues under $50 million) and established (with annual revenues of $50 million or more). The awards were presented on October 26th at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
