USAR Systems, Inc. a series of multi-functional companion chips for RISC-based handheld computers that provide Human Input Device (HID) control, power management and general purpose input output (GPIO). The chips, which typically
consume less than 1 µA of current, will scan a programmable 8 x 16 keyboard matrix that supports English, European and Japanese layouts. Different versions will control a variety of embedded mouse sensors, including a resistive touch pad, touch screen or pointing stick. In addition, the series offers general purpose I/O (GPIO), suited for use for lid functions, power switches, ring indicators, docking signals, battery measurement, and LEDs.
