National Instruments Releases New Version of LabVIEW
National Instruments has released Version 5.0 of LabVIEW graphical instrumentation software. In conjunction with this release, more than 20 companies have also announced new LabVIEW add-on products or upgrades built on the new technology in Version 5.0.
The new version of LabVIEW includes multithreading for better microprocessor utilization; Instrument Wizards to get users up and running quickly; ActiveX container and automation server capabilities; web publishing tools; documentation tools; and translation tools that give users the ability to create multilingual applications. Additional features include: distributed computing tools; a graphical differencing tool; and other user-requested features.
LabVIEW 5.0 works on Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 3.1, Macintosh, Sun Solaris, UNIX, HP-UX, and Concurrent PowerMax platforms. US prices start at $995.
