NCS Signs Outsourcing Contract with Guidant

National Computer Systems Inc. (NCS) announced a 10-year multi-million dollar outsourcing contract with Guidant Corporation to track medical devices for Guidant's Cardiac Rhythm Management Group. NCS recently launched a new medical device tracking service designed specifically to meet the needs of medical device manufacturers who are required by the FDA to track their products.

NCS' new medical device tracking application provides a cost-effective solution to help manufacturers comply with the Safe Medical Devices Act of 1990 as well as the tracking regulations issued by the FDA. The intent of this legislation is to ensure that manufacturers can quickly trace these devices to the attending physician and the patient any time during the product's life cycle. There are approximately 30 different device categories covered by the tracking regulations including implantable heart rhythm management, nerve stimulation, orthopedic and drug infusion devices.
