Nova Biomedical to Manufacture New Product by Boston Medical Technologies
The Anscore system is a noninvasive approach to measuring heart rate variability—how a patient's heart responds to paced respiration and controlled exercises. Clinical research has shown that heart rate variability can detect early warning signs of autonomic neuropathy, a complication of the autonomic nervous system that affects every system in the human body.
The Anscore System comprises single-use disposables and an electronic monitor that seamlessly integrates with the patented information data-mining service developed and managed by Boston Medical Technologies. Biomedical electrodes take blood pressure and respiration measurements using microelectronic components. Data is collected from the patient by three ECG leads placed on the patient and is then transmitted to the Boston Medical Information Processing Center for analysis, trending, and collection, with a report transmitted back to the treating physician for interpretation, diagnosis, and patient counseling. The entire process takes 15 minutes to complete.
The system is intended for use in any medical specialty where measurement of heart rate variability is indicated, but the company believes that the diabetes market may represent the largest potential market sector. Shipments of the system to key diabetes centers in the United States began in February 2000.
Nova Biomedical is a contract manufacturer of medical devices ranging from high-volume low-cost disposables to complex instruments produced in limited quantities. Services include development, design for manufacturing, production, distribution, and repair.
