Oridion Supplies Microstream® Capnography Product for New Philips Patient Monitor System

Oridion Systems Ltd. (NSWX: ORIDN), a leading supplier of OEM capnography (non-invasive CO2 monitoring) products announced that it will supply its Microstream® capnography product for IntelliVue, a new patient monitoring system, developed by Philips Medical Systems.

The availability of the Microstream® technology for this new patient monitoring system will enable Philips customers to incorporate Oridion's versatile CO2 (capnography) solution. The IntelliVue system is an upgrade from Philips' CMS, one of Philip's top selling and widely adopted product ranges.

"With the introduction of the new IntelliVue patient monitor, Philips is pleased to be able to extend its offering of Oridion's Microstream capnography technology to its mid- and high-level patient monitors," said David Russell, Worldwide Marketing Director of Philips' Patient Monitoring Division. "Since introducing Microstream capnography on the portable M4 monitor back in 1997, this has been one of the most frequently asked for enhancements to our mid to high end Patient Monitoring product portfolio and is consistent with our strategy of enhancing clinical care and overall patient safety."

"Oridion's patented Microstream® technology is the capnography technology of choice because of its' ability to accurately monitor both intubated and non-intubated patients," said Dominic Corsale, vice president, OEM and business development, Capnography Business Unit, Oridion. "We are pleased to supply Philips with Microstream® capnography for the company's new patient monitoring system. This is an excellent opportunity to further enhance our relationship with a world-leading partner such as Philips. Together we provide the medical community with products that help provide the highest quality of medical care."

Microstream® is Oridion's core technology based on a unique way of measuring and sampling CO2 in an expired breath. Microstream® employs a patented laser-by-product technology that creates a gas fingerprint emission that can measure and analyze different types of CO2 and is extremely gas specific. This specificity sets the stage for a number of technological advantages and clinical benefits. The breath sampling methods used with Microstream® are also proprietary to this technology.
