Outgassing Safety Using VPA Sterilization

Source: REVOX Sterilization Solutions

Guaranteeing safety is the most important goal in sterilization. When producing biologics, pharmaceuticals, implantables, and other medical equipment, the biological contaminants must be eradicated in order to stop the spread of infections. One of the most common chemical sterilants used in industrial applications is ethylene oxide (EO) which can leave behind harmful chemical residuals, and requires medical manufacturers to devote processing time for outgassing before products can be delivered to the client. This article presents and discusses room-temperature vaporized peracetic acid (VPA) as an alternative to EO sterilization.
