Overcoming The Challenges Of Depyrogenation Of Class III Devices

Source: REVOX Sterilization Solutions

Companies that produce class III devices are required to have both sterilization and depyrogenation for their products. Pyrogens are endotoxins derived from a purified lipopolysaccharide layer in the cell wall of bacteria that is released into the surrounding environment during bacterial death, lysis, or multiplication. They can cause a rise in body temperature or more serious complications when released into the bloodstream.  Because pyrogens are toxins and not bacteria, they can be present in a sterile product, and therefore require specific methods of depyrogenation. Download the full article to see how REVOX sterilization is able to achieve depyrogenation at a safe temperature due to the oxidizing and antimicrobial properties of peracetic acid.
