Visionary Medical Products Corporation (VMPC) established PenJet® Corporation to manufacture its patented PenJet® needle-less drug delivery systems and a full line of patented, continuous feed, high-speed, aseptic PenJet® automated filling Systems. VMPC was founded in 1993 to design, develop and license innovative user friendly drug delivery and monitoring devices. Among the devices which VMPC has licensed to some of the world's largest medical products manufacturers are its: insulin pens; insulin pens with memory; pocket size insulin pens combined with a blood glucose meter; and blood glucose monitor wristwatch. All are covered by multiple US and international patents.

PenJet® is a small, inexpensive needle-less, disposable jet injector that is prefilled with a single dose of medication and powered by self-contained compressed inert gas. This provides the correct pressure to inject medication without a needle. It is produced by PenJet® Corporation, which utilizes VMPC's patented drug delivery technologies and automated filling systems. Because of its ease of operation and low cost, PenJets® are applicable for usages ranging from mass inoculations of entire populations to home delivery of pharmaceuticals by patients or their care-givers.

PenJets® are available for needle-less subcutaneous, intradermal and some intramuscular injections. Dosage size can be as large as 1.0 ml or as small as 0.1 ml.

PenJet® patented deployment mechanism - PenJet's® patented pressure sensitive triggering systems take the guess work out of how hard to push the device against the injection site to give an appropriate injection while avoiding tissue damage. Bruising, often referred to as sub-dermal hematomas, occurs when too little or too much pressure is applied to the skin. The PenJet® automatically deploys when the proper pressure is applied, making PenJet® the safest jet injector.

PenJet® Ampoules - The standard size PenJet® ampoule holds 0.5 ml. It is available in gamma stable polycarbonate or reinforced pharmaceutical glass. Custom size ampoules as small as 0.1 ml for intradermal use and as large as 1.0 ml are available. PenJet® ampoules also use a variety of proprietary design configurations to overcome high speed shearing of protein molecules.

PenJet® polycarbonate ampoules are an integral part of the device housing. They are filled in an aseptic environment fully assembled, ready for the inert gas canister which holds the delivery charge. After filling, the gas canister is placed in the device and packaged for shipment, storage and delivery.

The PenJet® modular system uses pharmaceutical glass ampoules which are filled in an aseptic environment. The prefilled pharmaceutical glass ampoules are inserted into a sterile PenJet® housing immediately after filling. This assembly can be stored and shipped with or without the gas canister in place. If the pharmaceutical company desires, the patented, self contained PenJet® gas canister can be inserted into the device just prior to its use.

PenJet® Filling Systems - Filling equipment is provided by PenJet® Corporation for small test runs and for full production. It's patented continuous feed, high-speed aseptic PenJet® automated filling system is anticipated to debut in the third quarter of 2000.

PenJet® Intellectual Property - VMPC's PenJet® technology is covered by a portfolio of issued and pending patents. Because of this, its licensees have exclusive drug delivery benefits that provide them with a sustainable competitive advantage.
