Physician inventor sues Medtronic for patent infringement
Dr. Jeffry Kreamer, a physician practicing in Palatine, IL, has filed suit in Federal District Court in Wisconsin against Medtronic Inc. (Minneapolis).
The suit alleges that Medtronic infringed Dr. Kreamer's patent on certain devices and methods he invented for repairing weakened blood vessels using what is known as a stent graft. One particular Medtronic product specifically cited as infringing Dr. Kreamer's stent graft patent was the Medtronic AneuRx stent graft system.
The complaint seeks recovery of reasonable royalties and other damages and penalties attributable to Medtronic's infringement in an amount in excess of $45 million, as well as an injunction of any further infringement.
