Bayer Corporation-1805 polycarbonate resin, formerly known as Makrolon DP1-1805, is a highly transparent, robust grade that offers good bonding with PVC tubing and helps alleviate cracking in high-stress medical device applications where there is contact with intravenous fluid products, particularly lipid emulsions. The material is suited for luers, tubing connectors, Y-site medication ports, stockcocks and other similar applications. While offering improved resistance to IV solutions, it also bonds well with both conventional adhesives and solvent-bonding techniques. The resin meets the biocompatibility requirements of FDA-modified ISO 10993, Part 1, in selected tints and colors. The material withstands sterilization by radiation, ethylene oxide and steam autoclaving.
