The company offers five families of polyurethane resins to meet the needs of any medical device. Tecoflex, Tecothane, Carbothane are available in a durometer from 75A to 75D. These products can be used for either extrusion or injection molding applications. Tecophilic is a hydrophilic polyurethane formulated to absorb significant amounts of water. Tecoplast is an 80D polyurethane designed to produce rugged injection molded components.
All of the resins are designated as medical-grade biomaterials having passed either U.S.P. class VI, MEM Elution, or other necessary tests to establish their biocompatibility, and biostability. The biocompatibility tests of these resins are performed using recommendations from the Tripartite Commissions for medical devices in contact with blood. Biostabilities of the resins were evaluated by physical property measurements and SEM observations of the materials before and after implementation into living tissue.
