Precision Optics Corporation Announces Patent Applications on Two New Medical Devices
Precision Optics Corporation, Inc. announced that it has filed patent applications for two new medical devices and market introduction of a non-medical endocoupler.
Stereo Endoscope
The company said its new stereo endoscope provides significant improvements in accuracy via stereo pair images for three-dimensional visualization of surgical procedures.
Medical Viewing Device
The company has also filed a patent application on a disposable Medical Viewing Device for use in routine internal examinations by primary care physicians, emergency room physicians, gastroenterologists and gynecologists. The Medical Viewing Device features include optics which provide a clear, magnified, upright image with long eye relief for the user or easy connection to video; bright fiber optic illumination incorporated into a sleek, reusable handle; fiber optic port compatible with common light guides; quick release mechanism for easy insertion and non-contact removal of disposable tips; and disposable obdurator for easy insertion.
Endoscope Contract
The company has received a contract totaling approximately $425,000 for production of arthroscopes and laparoscopes. These instruments are scheduled for delivery during calendar year 1998.
