Proxim, Odyssey Deliver WLAN Connectivity to Windows CE Devices

Proxim and Odyssey have announced an alliance to deliver wireless local area network (WLAN) connectivity to mobile devices running the Windows CE operating system (OS). The companies will develop Windows CE WLAN solutions using Proxim's RangeLAN2 technology and Odyssey's CEfusion software suite.

RangeLAN2 products operate in the 2.4 GHz band using a frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) scheme. RangeLAN2 products comply with the OpenAir WLAN standard supported by the Wireless LAN Interoperability Forum (WLIF).

CEfusion suite of software connectivity tools helps engineers build wireless applications on Windows CE-based mobile computing devices. These tools help designers minimize the issues associated with interconnectivity and data access between wireless mobile devices and various information sources. The software suite consists of clients, gateways, agents, and a central communications server.
