Puller/Cutter

Source: Harrel, Incorporated
The puller is the exclusive Harrel ROLLERPULLER

The new Harrel RC-606 combination PULLER/CUTTER is an all-in-one option.

PULLER:
The puller is the exclusive Harrel ROLLERPULLER. This was developed to overcome the variations in line speed, and hence in tubing diameter, of systems using a conventional caterpillar type puller. As a practical matter, it is impossible to make a perfectly uniform caterpillar belt, and in an application such as small tubing, with light load on the puller, the speed varies as the belt goes around.

The ROLLERPULLER has another advantage in bump tubing extrusion. The inertia of the rollers is a small fraction of that in a caterpillar type puller, where all the weight is out at maximum radius. This means that the transitions in tubing diameter can be made in shorter length, and can be much more closely controlled with the ROLLERPULLER.

CUTTER
The NOCLUTCH cutter is another area where Harrel pioneered. Older style cutters have a clutch and a brake. Both have to engage a shaft turning full speed once each revolution. Inevitably they wear. Further, the accuracy is not too good because they don't always come to rest at the same point. The NOCLUTCH cutter consists of a motor with a knife on its shaft, a guard to keep you from cutting your fingers off, and some very hi-tech electronics designed, built, and serviced by Harrel. The motor is fast enough so that it can accelerate to 2000 rpm in 1/3 revolution, travel another 1/3 revolution at 2000 rpm to make the cut, and then decelerate in the final 1/3 revolution to return to precisely the starting point.
