Eucomed’s Board of Directors has announced at its Annual General Assembly that Rob ten Hoedt, Medtronic Senior Vice-President & President, Europe, Middle East & Africa and Canada (EMEAC), has been elected Chairman of the Board of Eucomed. In this role, Mr. ten Hoedt will succeed Guy Lebeau MD, Johnson & Johnson Group Company Chairman Medical Devices & Diagnostics EMEA, who will be stepping down as Chairman of the Eucomed Board effective immediately. Dr. Lebeau has been named Honorary Chairman of the Eucomed Board.

“The Eucomed board is confident that by electing Rob ten Hoedt as its chairman it has appointed the right person to take the association to new heights. The Eucomed membership and wider medtech industry will surely benefit from his vast experience and insights. In his new role, Rob will continue to work on ensuring that Europe remains an attractive place to provide patients with access to value-based innovations,” Guy Lebeau MD said on the election of Mr. ten Hoedt as Chairman of the Board.

Mr. ten Hoedt’s appointment follows the announcement by the Eucomed board that Guy Lebeau MD is stepping down as Chairman of the Board. Dr. Lebeau has been holding this position since 2007 and during his tenure has overseen several milestones including the regulatory developments currently on-going, the launch and execution of the medtech industry’s 5-year strategy, and the formation of the MedTech Europe alliance at the 2012 MedTech Forum. For his years of dedication and service to Eucomed, the board has elected Guy Lebeau Honorary Chairman of the Eucomed Board.

“Having truly left his mark on Eucomed for the past six years, Guy Lebeau is today leaving the association in an ideal position to be ready for the future,” Rob ten Hoedt stated on Guy Lebeau’s stepping down. Mr. ten Hoedt continues “As a European, I am proud of the healthcare systems we have in place in Europe. At the same time, it is a fact that we are currently facing some major budget challenges and we need to find solutions to ensure that patients continue to have access to the most innovative and life-saving therapies. However, I am absolutely convinced that the medical technology industry, through its thousands of highly innovative small and medium enterprises, is part of the solution."

Rob ten Hoedt brings with him over 25 years of experience in medical devices, having held different positions in sales, marketing and general management. He was appointed Senior Vice-President & President, Europe, Middle East & Africa and Canada (EMEAC) in 2009 and is a member of Medtronic’s Executive Committee (ExCom).

“It is thanks to Guy’s vision of and passion for a strong Eucomed that the association is now a credible and well-respected voice of the medical technology industry in Brussels. I look forward to continuing this journey with Rob ten Hoedt,” Serge Bernasconi, Eucomed’s Chief Executive Officer added.
