SATEC Systems, the newest member of the Instron family of materials testing equipment, began operations in the early 1950's producing creep stress/rupture machines. The SATEC name was conceived in 1962, based on the concept of space age test equipment. During the decade of the 1960's, SATEC acquired the famous Baldwin and Sonntag universal testing machine product line from Warner & Swasey.
