Scapa Group acquires medical tapes supplier
Scapa Group, a global supplier of technical tapes, has finalized an agreement to acquire Medifix Adhesive Products Limited, a UK based company which specializes in the supply of wound management products. The transaction is scheduled for completion on April 1, 2001, according to Scapa.
Medifix (Luton, Bedfordshire) was founded in January 1992 and has a customer base that includes some of the leading global companies in the healthcare sector. The business had net assets of £2.7 million in the year ended May 31, 2000.
"Scapa has a strong and developing presence in the manufacture of medical tapes for the healthcare community. The acquisition of Medifix Adhesive Products complements the purchase of Acutek International in January 2000 and Great Lakes Technologies in May 2000," said Tony Watson, chief executive of Scapa. "The latest acquisition significantly enhances Scapa's range of critical component materials for the medical market. Scapa Medical is now able to offer an ever broadening range of products and support development in key areas including wound care, medical device fixation and transdermal drug delivery programs."
