Size 11 Motor

The company's new N11 series, 1.1 inch diameter, medical grade, brushless DC motor debuts this month after successfully completing full design qualification. This motor has been specifically designed for use in battery powered hand-held surgical devices. It is closely related to their successful N09 series motor and one version features a cannulated shaft through which a surgeon can feed a pin or wire. Like the N09 series motor, the N11 is specifically designed for sterilization in an autoclave.

Inquires from companies for new applications of this motor have been coming in prior to formal introduction. Its small size yet high torque are attractive features. The two current modes are 2.5 inches and 3.2 inches long respectively and feature radially spaced 8 pins for electrical connection to brushless motor controllers. Continuous torque for this family is up to 10 oz-in and speeds in excess of 30,000 RPM are possible. This product line will also be made available in a "flying lead" version.

The N11 motor can be easily mated with their current line of size 13 planetary gearboxes, clutches and brakes. This type of versatility is a strong incentive to many customers.
