Sonora Introduces Endoscope-Testing Device

Longmont, CO - Sonora Medical Systems, a leading supplier of after-market products, services and test equipment to the medical imaging market, announced that it has introduced an industry unique and important new product designed for the endoscopy market, The Firefly, at the recently concluded Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) meeting in Boston.

The Firefly endoscope-testing device is a handheld instrument designed to measure the luminous radiation of standard medical endoscopic light sources, fiber optic cables and endoscopes.

The Firefly consists of an integrating sphere, light meter and adapters to interface with endoscopic equipment common in surgical applications. Multiple patents for the Firefly are pending. "We are delighted to once again introduce an urgently needed test device into the imaging market. Firefly will be of great value to Biomedical and Clinical Engineers responsible for the maintenance of endoscopy equipment. Firefly was very well received at the AAMI by biomedical engineers and endoscopy OEMs as well. The one-button operation of the Firefly provides the user with an objective and repeatable measure of the light output from each of the components in the endoscopy chain. The data can be used for predictive maintenance, product acceptance and on-going QA programs, " said G. Wayne Moore, President and CEO of Sonora Medical. "Sonora is committed to developing test devices for the medical imaging market that bring real value and that tackle problems where there have previously been few answers. Firefly underscores that commitment," Moore continued.
