Sparta Surgical Buys Weck Electrosurgical
"Weck Electrosurgical, combined with Olsen Electrosurgical acquired in June 1999, positions Sparta as a global competitor in a $4 billion market with a fully broadened product line of the highest quality electrosurgical and microsurgical instruments and accessories," said Thomas F. Reiner, chairman, president, and CEO.
Sparta will also consolidate all of Weck's operations including manufacturing and distribution from Research Triangle Park, NC, into Sparta's facility in Concord, CA.
Weck Electrosurgical designs, manufactures and markets a full line of monopolar and bipolar electrosurgical forceps, reusable and disposable coagulation suction tubes, bipolar cords, pads, and electrodes for use during tissue cutting and cauterization surgical procedures. For its most recent fiscal year ended December 31, 1999, Weck Electrosurgical recorded net sales of approximately $3.9 million.
Sparta manufactures surgical and medical devices, including reusable and single-use electrosurgical and microsurgical instruments and accessories, craniofacial implants, critical care hospital disposables and non-invasive electrotherapy medical equipment and supplies.
