Steris Acquires Quality Sterilization Systems

Steris Corp. (Mentor, OH) has announced the acquisition of the assets of Quality Sterilization Services (QSS), a contract sterilization business located near Minneapolis. QSS primarily provides contract sterilization services for medical device manufacturers in the upper Midwest. Specific terms of the cash transaction were not disclosed.

Thomas J. Magulski, Steris's senior vice president and Scientific & Industrial Group president, stated, "QSS has established a leadership position within the Minnesota and upper Midwest sterilization market through a commitment to the highest standard of customer support and quality service. The Twins Cities area, also known as Medical Alley, is a booming market for high technology medical device manufacturing which provides Steris an excellent opportunity for continued growth and expansion of our Isomedix Services network."

Magulski continued, "We expect a rapid and smooth integration of the QSS operation into the STERIS/Isomedix Services network. Employees of QSS have joined Steris, and processing of customer goods is proceeding as scheduled. We look forward to continuing to serve current customers while expanding the business."

Steris Corp., through its Isomedix Services business, provides sterilization, microbial reduction, and materials modification services through a network of 15 facilities in North America to medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food safety, and industrial customers. The company provides gamma, EtO, and E-beam processing modalities. In addition to contract services, Steris markets a line of cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization systems, products, and technologies.
